Antique hook collection

I love antique crochet hooks. I just love the detailed engravings on these hooks. It amazing how much hooks has changed in the years. No longer do we see such intricate etchings on steel crochet hooks. I buy most of mines on ebay whenever I can. Alas not many auctions come my way because of my location. Sometimes the bidding price becomes a little out of my range because of the exchange rate. Here is a look at some of my hooks.

I also love finding antique hooks on ebay...some of my finds include several bone hooks and an exquisite one in sterling silver.

Yours are beautiful!

Maybe one day I'll own one of those sterling silver ones with the pearl handle. I envy you lol.

Hi Anna the two larger ones were the same size as the smaller one when I won the auction, unfortunately the handles were damaged so I replaced them with some newer ones and made them longer by attaching just a little piece inside the handle.

Beautiful collection. I also collect vintage hooks and knitting needles. I have a Civil War hand carved trench art hook with a fist and Confederate flag on the tip. I'm looking for info on how and when the "Fists" were used on hooks. I've seen them on 1800 period hooks but don't know what or who brought them about.

Just find another hook in my collection, it has a round flat "knot" shape which is supposed to be a holder for your thumb to prevent the hook from slipping. Its called a "Morrall's Slip-not". Anyone ever hear of this? I've also found a size 16 vintage hook... uber-tiny!
